ECE 90 brake testing and certification service for replacement brake lining assemblies

Background:

ECE90 Brake Testing (Pty) Ltd is a company that was established with the objective of providing a test and certification service for replacement brake lining assemblies. This being primarily to the requirements of the Economic Commission for Europe ECE Regulation 90 but also other national, international and industry specifications used in the brake friction industry.

The company was established in June 2001 and worked towards obtaining international accreditation thus enabling it to test to the ECE regulation 90 requirements.

ECE90 Brake Testing (Pty) Ltd. has now been accredited by SANAS (South African National Accreditation System) to the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025. The initial scope of accreditation being for the dynamometer testing service for light vehicles. The company has now expanded its service to cover the dynamometer testing for light commercial vehicles, dynamic vehicle tests, shear strength and compressibility tests to the requirements of the ECE Regulation and accreditation for these services is expected to be achieved within the near future. The staff of ECE 90 Brake Testing have many years experience in the vehicle braking industry primarily in the fields of:

• development and development testing of braking systems for new motor vehicles
• Testing of both vehicle braking systems and brake lining assemblies for compliance with compulsory safety requirements.
• Participating membership of technical committees for vehicle braking system and brake lining assembly specifications

Brake testing services offerered include the following tests:

• Passenger vehicle dynamometer brake tests
• Light commercial vehicle dynamometer brake tests
• Passenger and light commercial vehicle brake tests
• Brake friction material compressibility tests
• Brake pad/lining shear strength tests

• To include the dynamometer testing for light commercial vehicles, the dynamic vehicle tests, shear strength and compressibility testing part of the ECE Regulation 90 to our scope of accreditation.
• To continue building our technicians into a group of highly professional technicians in order to provide a reliable brake testing service that equals that of all the leaders in our industry.
• To be in a position to be a recognized testing facility by all the relevant regulatory government authorities who administer the issuing of the European mark of approval. This means that all reports issued by our laboratory will be accepted when submitted as documentation to apply for this mark.
